A Hindu temple that is being built in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India, at the site of Ram Janmabhoomi, the birthplace of Lord Ram, a principal deity of Hinduism.

Ever since the temple was consecrated last year, Ayodhya has become a hub of tourists with numbers further inflated due to Maha Kumbh, taking place only 160 kilometres away in Prayagraj. According to the state tourism department, 32.98 crore tourists visited Uttar Pradesh in the first six months of 2024 with Ayodhya and Varanasi accounting for the majority of numbers.

As per the Uttar Pradesh government, a new record was set when over one crore devotees visited the holy city between January 26 and February 3 (Basant Panchami).

The temple construction is being supervised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. The ground-breaking ceremony was performed on 5 August 2020 by India’s prime minister Narendra Modi.

Ram Navami 2025 in Ayodhya is set to be a historic and grand celebration, attracting thousands of devotees to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. On April 6, 2025, special rituals, including Abhishek, Shringar, Aarti, and Chappan Bhog, will take place at Ram Lalla’s birth time at noon. A Surya Tilak ceremony, where sunlight will illuminate Ram Lalla’s forehead for four minutes, will be telecast live worldwide by Doordarshan.

Summer in Ayodhya between April and June is quite warm; sometimes the mercury rises up to 47°C. Winter from November to February experiences a plunge to 10°C. The best time to plan a visit here would be between October to March.

 - By Air

You can reach Ayodhya via the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham, located approximately 8 kilometers from the Ram Temple. The airport is situated along the Gorakhpur-Lucknow National Highway with easy access to the city center.

 - By Train

Ayodhya is well-connected by rail with major railway stations in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of India. You can arrive at Ayodhya through the Ayodhya Dham Railway Station or the Ayodhya Cantonment Railway Station.

 - By Road

Ayodhya is easily accessible by road from various cities in Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring states. It is well-connected by a network of national and state highways. You can choose to take a taxi or bus or even drive yourself, depending on your preference and budget.
